Recently, a murder plot of Dasna Devi temple’s erstwhile mahant (head priest) was revealed. According to Delhi Police, a 24-year-old Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorist named Mohammad Dar was arrested in connection with the plan to kill Yati Narsinhanand Saraswati. Hailing from the Pulwama district of Kashmir, Dar was taken into custody from Paharganj’s Hotel Shiva more than two weeks ago. On 28 April, Delhi Police got intel regarding a probable attack on Yati Narsinhanand Saraswati. An FIR was lodged in April. However, Delhi Police made this public only a few days back. Before this, Dar was arrested in 2016 on charges of stone-pelting in Kashmir, days after the Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani was killed. Dar is a carpenter by profession.
In December 2020, Dar had met a Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist named Abid near his home in Pulwama. They became friends and kept in touch through WhatsApp. In February, Dar visited Delhi for medical treatment of his nephew. After his return to Kashmir, he met Abid on April 11. Abid had informed Dar about some controversial statements of Narsinhanand and incited Dar to kill him. Abid trained him and gave more than Rs 41,000 to kill Yati Narsinhanand. Apart from this, Abid also transferred Rs 35,000 to Dar’s account. After this, he asked Dar to get a weapon from Abid’s friend in Delhi. Now Delhi Police is in search of Abid’s friend.
Police recovered a .30 bore pistol along with two magazines and 15 live rounds. What is interesting here is that Dar’s plan was to look like a Hindu priest so that he could easily camouflage and infiltrate. Police recovered a piece of Kalava (holy thread), a string of beads, sandalwood paste, an orange kurta, a white pajama, and a box of kumkum (vermilion). Dar was looking to gain proximity to Narsinhanand in the disguise of a priest so that he could kill him easily.
A similar ploy was used by Islamist terrorists to butcher Hindu Samaj leader Kamlesh Tiwari in October 2019. The terrorists named Farid-ud-din Shaikh and Ashfaq Shaikh visited Tiwari in his office-cum-residence at Lucknow both dressed in saffron kurtas to give him a sweets box. Time and again, Hindu leaders are being targeted for speaking the truth or saying something which doesn’t please the Islamic community. On the other hand, they abuse Hindu deities openly in broad daylight and yet roam freely.
Yati Narsinghanand is known for his bold statements against Islam, Islamic terrorism, and its founder Prophet Muhammad. He frequently speaks about Islamic terrorism across the globe especially the Indian subcontinent. Last month, he received many death threats including one from AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan because he had openly criticized Islam and Prophet in a press conference.
