He stated that many healthcare systems across the world have benefited from the talent of Indian professionals.
Shining a spotlight on the once-in-a-century pandemic that brought attention to various undeniable truths, the Prime Minister mentioned that borders are unable to contain health threats in our deeply interconnected world.
He also noted the manifold difficulties and hardships faced by countries in the Global South, including the denial of resources. "True progress is people-centric. No matter how many advances are made in medical science, access must be assured to the last person at the last mile," underscored PM Modi.
Ayushman Bharat Scheme:
The Prime Minister highlighted the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, noting it as the largest government-funded health insurance coverage scheme globally. He shared that the scheme extends medical coverage to over 500 million Indian citizens, with more than 40 million already benefiting from its services in a cashless and paperless manner. This has led to citizens saving nearly 7 billion dollars.
