The Indian Army, in collaboration with the Assam Rifles, Manipur Police, and other security forces, apprehended eight cadres and seized 25 weapons, ammunition, and warlike stores during a series of joint operations across multiple districts of Manipur, officials reported on Monday.
According to an official statement, these operations took place in the districts of Kakching, Thoubal, Tengnoupal, Bishnupur, Imphal East, and Chandel.

Acting on intelligence, the Assam Rifles conducted a search operation on February 2 in the Laiching-Duthang Junction area of Chandel district, leading to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, a country-made Pt 303 rifle, a 9mm pistol, a 12 Bore rifle, multiple Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), grenades, ammunition, and other warlike materials.
On February 3, the Indian Army, in coordination with the CRPF and Manipur Police, carried out an operation in the Saiton Khunao area and surrounding villages of Bishnupur district. This resulted in the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, two 9mm submachine guns, two pistols, a 2-inch mortar, grenades, two IEDs, and ammunition.
During an Area Domination Patrol (ADP) on February 4 in the forested region of Tengnoupal district, Assam Rifles personnel spotted three suspicious individuals who fled upon being noticed. A subsequent search led to the discovery of a hidden cache containing improvised projectile launchers (Pompie) of various calibres and locally made grenades.
On February 6, a joint operation by the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, BSF, and Manipur Police in the Nongyai Hill Range of Kakching district resulted in the seizure of a 7.62 mm Self-Loading Rifle (SLR), a Single Barrel Gun, two IEDs, grenades, ammunition, and other warlike materials.
In another operation in Chandel district, the Assam Rifles conducted a search between Geljang and Tyang, recovering a 7.62 mm assault rifle, ammunition, and additional warlike stores.
On February 7, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police launched a search operation in Uyok, Bishnupur district, based on intelligence inputs. This operation led to the seizure of a .303 rifle, three single bore barrel guns (SBBL), a .22 pistol, a 9mm pistol, ammunition, grenades, and other warlike materials.
A series of intelligence-based operations on February 8 across various districts resulted in the capture of eight cadres and the recovery of multiple arms and ammunition.
In Thoubal district, a search operation in the Kakmayi area led to the arrest of a cadre from the Kangleipak Communist Party (Kangleipak). Meanwhile, in Imphal East, a joint operation in Tellou resulted in the apprehension of seven cadres from the Manipur Naga Revolutionary Front (MNRF), along with the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, two INSAS rifles, three Self-Loading Rifles (SLR), ammunition, and other warlike materials.
Following these operations, all recovered weapons and materials were handed over to the Manipur Police.
These coordinated efforts underscore the Indian Army and security forces' commitment to maintaining security and stability in the region.
