PM Modi Vows Action Against Those Behind Pahalgam Terror Attack: 'They Will Not Be Spared'

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in the loss of 28 lives, and pledged that those responsible for the "barbaric act" would be held accountable.

The prime minister stated in a post on X, “They (terrorists) will not be spared! Their evil agenda will never succeed. Our resolve to fight terrorism is unshakable and it will get even stronger.” Modi also expressed his condolences to those who have lost their loved ones in the attack.


“I pray that the injured recover at the earliest. All possible assistance is being provided to those affected,” he said.


After the attack, Modi also reached out to Home Minister Amit Shah, urging him to take all necessary measures to address the situation.


On Tuesday afternoon, terrorists opened fire at a popular meadow near Pahalgam in Kashmir, killing 28 people, mostly tourists. This marks the deadliest attack in the Valley since the Pulwama incident in 2019.


Among the 28 victims were two foreigners and two locals, according to a senior official, who refrained from providing further details.


Several Union ministers have strongly condemned the terror attack.


Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat stated that those responsible for the attack will face the severest consequences.


“Deeply pained by the brutal terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam, J&K. My thoughts are with the families of the victims of this cowardly act, perpetrators of which will face the harshest consequences,” Shekhawat said.


Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw described the attack as a cowardly act.


“Strongly condemn the cowardly terrorist attack on innocent tourists in Pahalgam, J&K. Heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims & prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured,” he said.


Union Minister of State in PMO Jitendra Singh also dubbed the terror attack on tourists as cowardly act.


“Deeply shocked by the horrific terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir. There can be nothing more cowardly than targeting innocent lives,” Singh said.


“My thoughts are with the families who lost their loved ones. We stand together, as a nation, in grief and in our unwavering resolve to defeat terrorism,” he said.


Food Minister Pralhad Joshi stated that those responsible for the terror attack will be held accountable.


“Deeply devastated by the terror attack in Pahalgam, South Kashmir. Terrorism will never succeed in breaking our spirit. Our resolve to fight against such evil only grows stronger. Prayers for the victims and strength to their families in this difficult hour. Perpetrators will be brought to justice,” Joshi said.
