Prime Minister Narendra Modi today highlighted the remarkable progress achieved in India’s toy manufacturing sector, attributing it to the Government’s initiatives. He emphasized its role in advancing India’s self-reliance (Aatmanirbharta) while reviving traditional crafts and fostering entrepreneurship.

According to industry estimates, India's exports of toys, games and sports articles between 2014-15 to 2022-23 increased by 239 per cent, whereas the imports fell by 52 per cent.

Responding to a post by the Mann Ki Baat Updates handle on X, the Prime Minister reflected on a significant moment from one of his Mann Ki Baat episodes, where the focus was on promoting indigenous toy production.

“In one of the #MannKiBaat episodes, we discussed boosting toy manufacturing. Thanks to collective efforts across the country, significant progress has been made. These advancements have strengthened our journey towards Aatmanirbharta while celebrating our traditions and entrepreneurship,” PM Modi shared in his post.

In recent years, the toy manufacturing sector has experienced substantial growth, driven by supportive policies, innovative entrepreneurship, and a renewed focus on traditional Indian designs and sustainable practices. These initiatives have not only enhanced domestic production but also positioned India as an emerging leader in the global toy industry.

The Prime Minister’s recognition of this sector underscores the Government’s dedication to fostering economic self-reliance while preserving India’s rich cultural heritage. This progress aligns with the broader vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat by supporting local industries, creating jobs, and driving innovation.

With sustained efforts, the toy manufacturing sector is set to play an even greater role in accelerating economic growth and showcasing India’s cultural and creative strengths on the global stage.
