Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday urged all stakeholders to come together and invest in people by fostering skill development, nurturing talent, and driving innovation—essential forces behind job creation and economic expansion.
Speaking at a post-budget webinar on enhancing employment opportunities, Modi emphasized that this year’s Union Budget reflects a broad vision of large-scale investment in people, serving as a strategic roadmap for India’s future. He highlighted the government’s focus on infrastructure, industries, human capital, the economy, and innovation.

The prime minister stressed that capacity building and talent development are vital to national progress, calling on stakeholders to increase their investments in these areas, which he described as fundamental to economic prosperity and organizational advancement.
“The vision of investing in people stands on three pillars: education, skill, and healthcare," Modi stated that India's education system is experiencing a major transformation after many decades.
He emphasized major initiatives like the National Education Policy, the expansion of IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology), and the integration of technology in education, including leveraging the full potential of artificial intelligence (AI).
“These mission-driven initiatives have positioned India’s education system to meet the demands of the 21st century," Modi added.
The Union Budget 2025-26 outlines strategies to promote entrepreneurship and job creation across various sectors, unveiling initiatives aimed at empowering businesses and driving economic growth.
As per the budget announcement, India plans to generate 2.2 million jobs through the introduction of the new "Focus Product Scheme" in the footwear and leather industries, among other initiatives.
Additionally, the budget emphasizes boosting tourism by developing the top 50 tourist destinations in collaboration with state governments, which is expected to create more job opportunities.
On Wednesday, the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of equipping youth with industry-relevant skills, stating that efforts, aided by global experts, are underway to ensure that Indian youth can compete globally.
He also announced that the government’s PM Internship Scheme would offer fresh opportunities to the youth.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also outlined significant healthcare initiatives in the Union Budget, such as the creation of 10,000 new medical seats, with an additional 75,000 seats over the next five years.
He stressed the expansion of telemedicine across all Primary Health Centres, the establishment of daycare cancer centers, and the enhancement of digital healthcare infrastructure to ensure equitable access to healthcare services.
These initiatives are expected to be transformative, improving lives and generating employment for the youth, he noted.
Prime Minister Modi further referenced the February 2025 observations by the International Monetary Fund, which stated that India’s economy had grown by 66% from 2015 to 2025, reaching $3.8 trillion.
He emphasized that this growth surpassed several major economies and reaffirmed India’s path toward becoming a $5 trillion economy in the near future.
Highlighting the importance of strategic investments and effective budget implementation, Modi emphasized the shift towards inclusive pre- and post-budget consultations under the ‘Jan-Bhagidari’ model.
He concluded by noting that the discussions from the webinar would help fulfill the aspirations of 1.4 billion Indians.
