Muslims chant religious slogans during the demolition of a Hindu temple in Pakistan

On Thursday, Pakistani authorities carried out the demolition of a Hindu temple, adding to the growing instances of persecution faced by religious minorities in the country. Former Pakistani cricketer Danish Kaneria brought attention to the incident by sharing a video on social media. The footage depicted a group of individuals chanting religious slogans while men armed with axes and hammers demolished the Hinglaj Mata Mandir in Tharparkar District. Kaneria, expressing concern, stated that the demolition was in line with a court order from Mirpurkhas, marking another instance of the crackdown on Hindu religious sites in Pakistan.

In the shared video, protesters were seen raising slogans such as 'Jai mata di' while expressing their discontent against the authorities. According to Kaneria, the demolition of the Hinglaj Mata Mandir in Mithi, Tharparkar, was initiated following an order from an anti-encroachment court in Mirpurkhas, highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by religious minorities in the country.
