The Rozgar Mela will be held at 40 locations across the country, welcoming new recruits into several Central Government Ministries and Departments, including the Department of Revenue, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Defence, and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
These newly appointed individuals will also have the chance to complete foundational training through Karmayogi Prarambh, an online module on the iGOT Karmayogi portal, which offers over 1,400 e-learning courses designed to equip them with essential skills.
This initiative is a major step toward building a Viksit Bharat (Developed India) and equipping youth to serve effectively in their new roles.
To date, more than 700 Rozgar Melas have been organized across 28 states and union territories, resulting in over 2.18 lakh registrations and the selection of around 93,000 candidates by private companies.
Organized by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, the Rozgar Mela initiative connects job seekers and employers through interview and application events. Typically, it caters to youth aged 18-35 with various academic qualifications, from grade 8 to graduates.
Regarding the Rozgar Mela
A Rozgar Mela is an event where numerous employers and job seekers gather to apply for and interview for jobs. More specifically, it’s a strategy designed to facilitate quicker connections between job seekers and employers.
These events are typically held in large assembly spaces, with each employer allocated a booth. At each booth, tables display company brochures and information, staffed by several company representatives who engage with job seekers. Many companies enhance their booths with banners and signage. Rozgar Melas can range in scale, with anywhere from 5 to 100 employers and hundreds of job seekers attending. Even smaller Rozgar Melas are often bustling, with job seekers forming lines to meet company representatives.
Companies attend Rozgar Melas to screen candidates for current or future job openings. At a minimum, they gain exposure, and at best, they can shortlist and quickly hire qualified candidates. Employer representatives invest significant time and resources in these events, so they value job seekers who are prepared and professional. Job seekers, in turn, appreciate approachable representatives who provide clear information. When both employers and job seekers come prepared, Rozgar Melas can be successful for everyone involved.
