The screening of Kangana Ranaut’s film Emergency at the Harrow Theatre in London was disrupted by Khalistani separatists, who reportedly stormed the venue shouting “Khalistan Zindabad” slogans and staging a protest against the movie. The disruption caused chaos and confusion, as the separatists demanded an immediate halt to the screening, claiming the film inaccurately portrayed the Sikh community. Tensions escalated when they clashed with audience members, who pushed back and insisted that the screening continue despite the separatists’ aggressive demands.

Videos of the incident quickly went viral on social media, capturing the heated exchanges and the protesters clashing with moviegoers inside the theatre. Although the situation caused a major disturbance, the theatre's management has not yet filed an official complaint. They have, however, pledged to bolster security measures by deploying more personnel to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Local law enforcement has taken the matter seriously and reviewed CCTV footage from the theatre. However, no arrests have been made thus far, and an investigation is ongoing to identify and prosecute those responsible. In the aftermath of the incident, at least three venues in the United Kingdom have stopped showing Emergency. The film has been pulled from Hounslow and Feltham Cineworlds, Birmingham Star City Vue, and Wolverhampton Cineworld.
Produced by Zee Studios, Emergency is based on true events from the life of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and the nationwide Emergency she imposed in the 1970s. The film has faced controversy from its inception, with Sikh organizations protesting its storyline and alleging it portrays the community negatively. As a result, many cinema halls in Punjab have refused to screen the film.
Initially scheduled for release in September last year, the film’s debut was delayed after the censor board denied it a certificate. The filmmakers were required to make minor edits and resubmit the film before it was finally approved. Despite these challenges, Emergency was released on January 17 after overcoming numerous obstacles.
The Rise of Extremism in the UK
The disruption of Kangana Ranaut's film Emergency in a London cinema highlights the UK's troubling descent into extremism and lawlessness. This trend is most evident in recent debates surrounding Pakistani grooming gangs, which have exposed how excessive political correctness among British lawmakers allowed criminals to operate unchecked for years. Beyond Khalistanis, the UK has become a haven for various offenders—whether financial fraudsters, rapists, or rioters—offering them refuge and protection.
A prominent example of this issue was raised by American billionaire Elon Musk, who criticized UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer for failing to prosecute grooming gangs effectively during his tenure as Director of Public Prosecutions. Musk specifically referenced the notorious Rotherham scandal, condemning Starmer's lack of decisive action.
The Labour government, led by Prime Minister Keir Starmer, faced severe criticism for its handling of Pakistani Muslim grooming gangs, often referred to as rape gangs. Starmer dismissed calls for a national inquiry into historical child sexual exploitation and branded demands for investigations into these gangs as a “far-right” agenda. This stance sparked widespread backlash, with critics accusing the Labour Party of avoiding action against these gangs out of fear of being labeled “Islamophobic.” This term has frequently been weaponized by Islamists and their sympathizers to suppress efforts to enforce law and order, especially against Muslim extremists and criminals.
In their pursuit of secularism and avoidance of accusations of Islamophobia, British lawmakers failed to implement strict measures to stop these grooming gangs, allowing the exploitation of vulnerable young girls to persist unchecked. This case symbolizes Britain's alarming decline into extremism, where political correctness and a misguided interpretation of secularism have been prioritized over justice, morality, and the protection of its citizens.
