According to ANI, the first batch of the Pinaka MBRL systems has been exported to Armenia.
This advanced weapon system comes in several variants and can target locations over 80 km away.
The contract between Armenian and Indian companies for the supply of Pinaka systems was signed approximately two years ago after extended negotiations.
Armenia ranks among India’s top three arms and equipment buyers, along with France and the United States.
Rising Worldwide Demand for Pinaka Rockets
Several countries from Europe and Southeast Asia have shown interest in the Pinaka rockets, with various versions of the system developed in recent years. The Indian Army is planning to significantly integrate these rockets into its arsenal.
Recently, crucial tests of the Pinaka rockets were conducted by the DRDO. These rockets are manufactured by Solar Industry's Economic Explosives Limited, located in Nagpur, India, and the government-owned Munitions India Limited.
The French government has expressed interest in acquiring this weapon system, which is named after the divine bow of the Hindu god Shiva.
France’s interest was conveyed during a high-level visit by Chief of Defence Staff Gen Anil Chauhan in early 2024.
India has been focused on increasing the export of its indigenous defense systems, with notable successes in this regard three times since 2014.
France ranks as India's second-largest defense equipment importer, following the United States.
