Introduction

In addition, Prime Minister Modi unveiled 20 new buildings for Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) and 13 structures for Navodaya Vidyalayas (NVs) nationwide. These initiatives underscore the government's unwavering commitment to providing world-class education infrastructure, ensuring that every child has access to quality education, irrespective of socio-economic background.


PM Modi and IITs

  1. IIT Jammu: The inauguration of the Indian Institute of Technology Jammu took place on August 6, 2016. During its early stages, IIT Delhi provided mentorship for the establishment of the institute. Situated in the village of Jagti, within Nagrota Tehsil, in the Jammu district, the campus has been successfully constructed.

  2. IIT Dharwad: The institution commenced its operations in July 2016 at a temporary campus previously occupied by the Water and Land Management Institute (WALMI) in the Belur Industrial Area, situated on the outskirts of Dharwad city. It received its formal inauguration on August 28, 2016. During its inaugural year, the institute offered B.Tech programs in three disciplines: Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Mechanical Engineering. In 2021, the institution introduced a new B.Tech program in Engineering Physics. By 2022, the institute had expanded its offerings to include four additional courses: Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, Mathematics and Computing, Civil and Infrastructure Engineering, and Interdisciplinary Sciences.

  3. IIT Bhilai: Established on August 7, 2016, the institute provides a range of programs including BTech, MTech, MSc., and PhD. In the 2023 NIRF rankings, it holds the 81st position among engineering colleges in India.

  4. IIT Goa: The operational commencement of the Indian Institute of Technology Goa (IIT Goa) took place in July 2016, utilizing a temporary campus located at Goa Engineering College (GEC). IIT Goa provides undergraduate (BTech), postgraduate (MTech), and doctoral (PhD) programs encompassing a range of core and non-core disciplines, with a primary focus on Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, as well as Mathematics and Computing.

  5. IIT Palakkad: Founded in 2015, the Indian Institute of Technology Palakkad (IIT Palakkad) provides B.Tech. programs in four engineering disciplines, M.Tech programs in six specializations, M.Sc. programs in three science disciplines, an M.S. (by Research) program in Engineering, and PhD programs in Engineering, Science, and Humanities & Social Sciences.

  6. IIT Tirupati: Founded in 2015, the institution has rapidly become the fastest-growing 3rd generation IIT situated in Yerpedu, Tirupati. It provides a comprehensive range of programs, including a 4-year Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech), as well as 2-year Master of Science (M. Sc), Master of Science (M.S.), Master of Technology (M.Tech - introduced in 2018), Master of Public Policy (MPP), and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) offerings in various engineering, science, and humanities disciplines.

  7. IIT Dhanbad: The establishment was established in 2016 and functioned initially using temporary campuses.


Healthcare Infrastructure Enhancements

The inauguration of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Vijaypur (Samba), Jammu, represents a quantum leap in healthcare infrastructure. Established under the 'Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana,' this state-of-the-art facility is not just a hospital but a symbol of hope, compassion, and healing. With 720 beds, a medical college, a nursing college, and an AYUSH block spread across 227 acres, AIIMS Vijaypur is poised to revolutionize healthcare delivery in the region, catering to the diverse healthcare needs of the populace.


Infrastructure Development Across Sectors

Prime Minister Modi announced a transformative package of projects worth ₹30,500 crore across various sectors, signaling a paradigm shift in India's infrastructure landscape. The foundation stone laying for a new terminal building at Jammu airport heralds a new era of aviation infrastructure, designed to meet the burgeoning demands of air travel while embracing sustainability principles.


Moreover, the inauguration of key road projects such as the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra expressway and the phase-two development of the Srinagar Ring road underscores the government's commitment to enhancing connectivity and spurring economic growth. Additionally, the initiation of the foundation stone laying for a Common User Facility (CUF) petroleum depot in Jammu underscores the government's strategic vision to fortify energy infrastructure and ensure energy security.


Development Projects in Jammu and Kashmir
