Dear Sikh sisters and brothers,
Indian farmer laws create modern commercial enterprise which will help farmers in the long run.
We will be able to sell across the states. As the market size becomes bigger, demand will increase. More the demand, more the prices. .
Electronic trading and e-commerce of our produce can create millionaires among us. E-commerce has tremendously increased demand for the products, leading to the benefit of both consumers and producers.
Decreasing the role of middlemen will put the commissions in our pockets. Rather than Mandi man driving Mercedes, our kids can dream of driving Ferrari.
Competition will make us efficient. We don’t have any choice but to become efficient to compete, not only in India but globally.
How long can we count on guaranteed prices? 50 per cent more than the weighted average cost of production? Eventually, governments will run out of money due to its subsidization gimmick to lure voters. . Some state governments will say yes to appease us but in the long term, the guarantees will not last forever.
Communist China threw away the shackles of socialism and embraced the free market. China’s success has scared the USA. If Chinese can succeed with the free market, we can succeed as well. We have gone all over the world and succeeded as farmers, merchants, entrepreneurs, scientists, physicians, politicians, humanists, and many other roles.
Why are we scared of the free market when almost all the developed countries have benefited from it?
In various sectors of India, entrepreneurship resonates quite well. We, farmers, can succeed as entrepreneurs and contribute to society constructively.
We know free lunch does not exist. We need to pay a fair price for everything.
Some elements of society support us, not out of benevolence, but to hurt us in the long term. They know unless we change our modus operandi, we will be doomed. They are supporting us to keep us backward.
We, children of Guru Nanak, practice and preach understanding, love and tolerance. Let us resolve the misunderstanding on the farm bill with dialogue.
Under Modiji, Gujarat’s economy flourished. As a chief minister, he built many roads which helps farmers to move the goods, grains and produce. He not only promised electricity to the farmers but followed through the implementation. Not just hollow promise but action.
With electricity, farmers reaped the benefit not only of farms but the homes as well. The government encourages building of cold storage units. As farmers got richer, they owned cars. Their children look forward to better prospects for getting married. Overall, it led to a safe environment in Gujarat. Of course, it helps the farmers and families.
We may not agree with all the aspects of the farm bill but we should not doubt his intense desire and honest efforts to improve our lot. Even his critics cannot find fault in his honesty.
He pushed the Narmada project which brought water all over Gujarat. What will farmers do without water?
He reached out to other businesses and countries for farming technology. For instance, he joined hands with Israel for its irrigation technology.
Waheguruji da Khalsa, Waheguruji di fateh
