Charting the Course: BJP's Preparations for the Ram Temple Inauguration

Introduction

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has kicked off its preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections with a series of crucial meetings held at the party's Delhi headquarters. The discussions, conducted on Tuesday, were geared towards formulating meticulous strategies for the polls, placing special emphasis on the consecration of the Ram Temple scheduled for January 22, 2024.

Campaign Integration

Key leaders, including union Ministers Bhupendra Yadav and Ashwini Vaishnav, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, and general secretaries Tarun Chugh and Sunil Bansal, converged at the meeting to deliberate on campaign strategies. The BJP resolved to seamlessly integrate its awareness efforts around the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya into its outreach campaigns for the Modi government's welfare schemes.

Campaign Components

The comprehensive discussions during the meeting covered various facets of the election campaign. Plans for beneficiaries outreach, booth outreach, and door-to-door campaigns were meticulously outlined. Each state was directed to designate two representatives for the meeting to discuss crucial issues to be highlighted among voters in the 2024 campaigns. The party's plan to divide Lok Sabha seats into clusters, considering their winnability, was reiterated during the meeting.

Booklet Publication

A pivotal initiative emerging from the meeting is the production of a booklet. This booklet aims to underscore the BJP's ongoing role in the Ram Mandir movement and shed light on the actions of Opposition parties in attempting to hinder the temple's construction. The party envisions distributing these booklets across booths, providing voters with comprehensive information about its stance on the Ram Temple issue.

Preparations for Temple Consecration

In an effort to streamline the implementation of existing programs and outreach, the party has set up sub-committees and call centers. Strategies to shape the narrative and consolidate BJP votes were extensively discussed. The party has set an ambitious target to surpass the 303 seats and 37.36% vote share obtained in the 2019 polls. The central theme of the campaign will revolve around Prime Minister Narendra Modi, positioning him as a symbol of Hindutva, development, and India's global image.

Celebrations and Outreach Calendar

A detailed fortnight-long calendar has been prepared to celebrate and campaign on the Ram Temple issue. On January 22, the day of the temple's inauguration, BJP workers are expected to ensure that every household lights up five diyas, termed "Ram Jyotis," in the evening to celebrate the event akin to Diwali. This initiative is designed to create a positive atmosphere and evoke emotions reminiscent of the symbolic holy bricks brought to Ayodhya since 1989.

Outreach to Devotees

In preparation for devotees visiting the Ayodhya Temple from January 25 to March 25, BJP leaders have instructed party workers to organize and assist in various logistical aspects. Approximately 50,000 pilgrims are expected daily in the first week after January 22. Party workers, collaborating with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) workers, will facilitate travel, accommodation, and other arrangements for the devotees. Notably, the party has advised against displaying party flags during this program.

Opposition Outreach and Induction

In the evening meeting, BJP President J P Nadda discussed the induction of leaders and influencers from various Opposition parties into the BJP ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. The party intends to invite influential leaders to join not only in constituencies where it lacks a strong base but also in other regions. A committee of senior leaders, including Union Minister Anurag Thakur and party general secretary (organization) B L Santhosh, will vet the list of inductees from different states.

Conclusion

As the BJP diligently lays the groundwork for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the party's multifaceted approach involves the integration of key issues, leveraging the Ram Temple consecration, highlighting welfare schemes, and reaching out to potential influencers from Opposition parties. This detailed plan reflects the party's strategic vision and concerted efforts to secure a robust mandate in the upcoming polls, signaling a comprehensive and well-thought-out election strategy. The BJP's proactive measures and meticulous planning underscore its commitment to navigating the complex electoral landscape.
