Breaking Away from Dynastic Politics: PM Modi's Jammu Visit

Introduction

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent visit to Jammu witnessed the inauguration of a slew of development projects totaling a whopping 32,000 crore rupees. Amidst heightened security, PM Modi emphasized the importance of breaking away from dynastic politics and unveiled a vision for comprehensive growth in the region. 



Inauguration of Development Initiatives

PM Modi's visit to Jammu showcased the government's commitment to infrastructural development and socio-economic empowerment. He interacted with beneficiaries of various schemes, each sharing transformative experiences facilitated by government initiatives.


  1. Ujjwala Yojna and Ayushman Cards: Veena Devi, from Kishtwar district, shared how the Ujjwala Yojna improved her lifestyle and allowed her more time for her family by replacing traditional wood-based cooking with clean LPG. She also expressed gratitude for Ayushman Cards, ensuring access to healthcare for her family.

  2. Rashtriya Ajivika Abhiyan: Kirti Sharma, a Kathua resident, highlighted the impact of the Self Help Group model on her life, leveraging loans to establish a successful dairy business, thus promoting self-reliance among women in her community.

  3. PM Awas Yojna: Laal Mohammad, a farmer from Poonch, thanked the government for financial assistance under the PM Awas Yojna, enabling him to build a resilient home in a border region prone to shelling.

  4. National Rural Livelihood Mission: Shaheena Begum, a sociology graduate from Bandipora, shared her journey from unemployment to entrepreneurship, thanks to a self-help group loan, now recognized as a 'Lakhpati Didi' in honey farming.

  5. Jal Jeevan Mission: Riyaz Ahmed Koli, a Pulwama resident, celebrated the provision of piped water to his village, significantly improving living standards and reflecting on the benefits of Article 370 abrogation.


Road Infrastructure Development

PM Modi's emphasis on infrastructural development manifested in the inauguration of key segments of the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway, signaling a significant leap forward in connectivity and economic integration. 


The expressway not only promises to streamline pilgrim travel to the revered Mata Vaishno Devi shrine but also holds the potential to stimulate economic growth along its corridor. Furthermore, the expansion of the Srinagar Ring Road and NH-01 represents a strategic investment in enhancing regional connectivity, reducing travel time, and unlocking the tourism potential of picturesque locales like Manasbal Lake and Kheer Bhawani Temple.


Educational Initiatives 

Permanent campuses for premier institutes including IIT Bhilai, IIT Tirupati, IISER Tirupati, IIITDM Kurnool, IIT Patna, IIT Ropar, IIM Visakhapatnam, IIM Jammu, and IIM Bodh Gaya.


Infrastructure was also improved in esteemed institutions like IIT Jammu, NIT Delhi, IIT Kharagpur, NIT Durgapur, IISER Berhampur, NIT Arunachal Pradesh, IIIT Lucknow, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, and Central University of Kerala Kasaragod. Foundation stones were also laid for the construction of academic blocks, hostels, faculty quarters, and more in various institutes including Sindhu Central University and IIIT Raichur.


Focus on Healthcare

A significant event was the inauguration of AIIMS Jammu, a state-of-the-art hospital equipped with modern facilities spanning over 227 acres in Jammu's Vijaypur, representing a significant investment of over Rs 1660 crore. 1500 new Government recruits were also provided with their appointment orders augmenting the healthcare workforce of Jammu and Kashmir


Condemnation of Dynastic Politics

In his address, PM Modi delivered a scathing critique of dynastic politics, attributing decades of stagnation and misgovernance in Jammu and Kashmir to entrenched family-based political structures. His unequivocal stance against dynastic politics resonated with the aspirations of the people, who have long sought merit-based governance and accountability. By challenging the status quo, PM Modi underscored the BJP's commitment to fostering a political environment conducive to inclusive development and democratic values.


Article 370 Abrogation and Development

Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the significant role of Article 370's removal in 2019 as a pivotal step towards unlocking Jammu and Kashmir's developmental potential. This marked his second visit to the region following the annulment of Article 370, underscoring its importance amidst the approaching Lok Sabha elections.


"Article 370 was a major obstacle hindering Jammu and Kashmir's development. However, the BJP government took decisive action to abolish it. Consequently, Jammu and Kashmir is now on a trajectory towards comprehensive growth. Recognizing this transformative change, I have urged the people to support the BJP in winning 370 seats and the NDA securing 400 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections,"

stated PM Modi.


Expressing unwavering confidence in the people of Jammu and Kashmir, PM Modi vowed to realize their aspirations for a developed state.

"I have full faith in you, and together, we will create a 'Viksit Jammu and Kashmir.' The dreams that have remained unfulfilled for 70 years will be realized under the leadership of Modi in the coming years. Previously, the region was marred by disheartening news of violence, but today, Jammu and Kashmir is forging ahead on the path of development,"

he affirmed. Highlighting the transformative shift, PM Modi reiterated,

"Previously, the region was synonymous with distressing headlines of violence and unrest. However, today, Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing tangible progress and advancement."

Distribution of Appointment Letters

The distribution of appointment letters to approximately 1,500 government workers symbolized the government's commitment to addressing unemployment and bolstering administrative capacity in Jammu and Kashmir. Beyond the tangible aspect of job creation, these letters represented a promise of stability and progress, instilling confidence in the region's youth and fostering a sense of belonging and participation in the governance process.
