While you are dreaming about the blue seas and white sand beaches of Maldives but you have a feeling your vacation plans won’t be looking like they usually do at this time of year. Buttermilk
How fondly we remember our grannies bringing us a glass of buttermilk and telling us all about the benefits of drinking it. It has digestive properties like none other and addition of one magical spice, roasted jeera (cumin) powder is a summer hydration jackpot. Make yourself a glass of masala chass with grated ginger, a few curry leaves, chopped coriander, pinch of rock salt and jeera and enjoy the glass of freshness.
Aam panna
What better way to enjoy summers than sipping Aam panna with your peeps? Rightfully known as the king of fruits, mango is everyone’s favorite. Aam panna will protect you from summer heat. Boil the mangoes till they become soft, drain the pulp, add cumin, rock salt, mint leaves and a lip smacking drink is ready. You can also store aam panna in the refrigerator for at least a week. Add some ice cubes and you are set to dazzle your party.
Nimbu pani
A quick and easy drink to make and rehydrate yourself from scorching summer heat. Take some mint leaves, pinch of rock salt, sugar or honey and squeeze the lemon juice in a glass of chilled water. If you are feeling particularly frenzy, add some chia seeds to lemonade and let it soak in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. It is one ultimate summer drink and chia seeds raises the bar up high in the antioxidants department.
Lassi
What is better than Punjabi lassi? Mango lassi, dry fruit lassi, strawberry lassi….
Churn some yogurt, add fruit of your choice and pour yourself a big glass of Punjabi lassi. Need a health tip? Make avocado and walnuts to your lassi and reap the benefits of glowing skin and shiny hair. Don’t like sweet lassi? Add mint leaves and rock salt. The smooth and creamy yogurt drink is a must on the menu this summer.
Falooda
Falooda: Do I drink it or eat it? The question we all ask ourselves while admiring this layered drink. Prepare vermicelli noodles beforehand and soak sweet basil seeds for at least an hour before using them with falooda. Pour rose syrup, sweet basil seeds, vermicelli, chilled full fat milk, scoop of vanilla ice cream and enjoy the goodness of falooda. Don’t forget to put some raisins and grated almonds on top.
