On Monday, May 20, a significant development unfolded at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad as the Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) of Gujarat Police apprehended four individuals suspected of terrorist activities. As reported by Desh Gujarat, all four detainees are identified as residents of Sri Lanka and are alleged associates of the Islamic State.
The individuals apprehended at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad have been identified by authorities as Mohammad Nusrat, Mohammad Nufran, Mohammad Faris, and Mohammad Razdin. According to officials, all four detainees are confirmed to be active members of the banned terror outfit.
In the wake of the arrests of the Islamic State terrorists at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad, the Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) has launched a rigorous investigation into the case. With the detainees identified as Mohammad Nusrat, Mohammad Nufran, Mohammad Faris, and Mohammad Razdin, the ATS is intensively interrogating them to ascertain the purpose of their arrival in Ahmedabad. The ongoing efforts aim to unravel the motives behind their presence in the state and to prevent any potential threats they may pose.
Preliminary findings from the ATS indicate that the apprehended Islamic State terrorists traveled from Sri Lanka to Ahmedabad via Chennai. The Gujarat ATS's swift intervention led to their arrest before they could execute any planned activities in the state.
In a chilling revelation, the initial investigation into the recent arrests of four ISIS terrorists from Gujarat has uncovered a sinister plot. These terrorists, it seems, were eagerly awaiting orders from their handlers in Pakistan, who were expected to supply them with weapons for their nefarious intentions. Adding to the intrigue, encrypted chats retrieved from the terrorists' phones shed light on their clandestine communications.
But the drama doesn't end there. In a separate incident, Surat Police made a startling arrest. Maulvi Sohail Abubakar found himself in cuffs for a plot that sent shivers down the spine. His targets? None other than prominent figures like suspended Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Nupur Sharma, party MLA from Hyderabad’s Goshamahal T Raja Singh, Sudarshan News editor-in-chief Suresh Chavhanke, and Sanatan Sangh national chairman Updesh Rana, a noted social media activist.
Unraveling the threads of this conspiracy, the police uncovered Sohail's extensive network of communication with handlers based in Pakistan and Nepal over the past year and a half. The handler in Nepal, identified as Shahzad, played a pivotal role. What's more intriguing is the cloak-and-dagger nature of their exchanges. Sohail operated under the radar, using a SIM card from Laos and platforms like WhatsApp to communicate. His orders? Nothing short of chilling—he was tasked with ‘straightening out’ those who dared to defame the honor of the Islamic Prophet.
Gujarat Police Comments
"An information was received that they are coming to India to commit a terror attack," Gujarat DGP Vikash Sahay said.
The police official further stated that the terrorists had boarded a flight from Chennai, bound for Ahmedabad.
"The arrests were made after analysing the information and list of passengers coming from south".
"All four of them are completely radicalised by the ISIS ideology and they are going to come to India to commit a terror attack. As per the information, they were going to reach Ahmedabad on May 18 or 19 either by railway or flight. Teams were formed and strategy was created based on the information received. Passenger lists of trains and flights coming from the south were analysed. All 4 of them were travelling from Chennai to Ahmedabad on the same PNR no. through an Indigo flight. Verification was done in Colombo too for confirmation," Gujarat DGP said at a press briefing.
Gujarat ATS released a statement saying that the evidence showed the terrorists were committed to joining the terror outfit and "following the path shown by Abu Bakr Baghdadi".
"Evidences showing their commitment to join the proscribed terrorist organization Islamic State (IS), follow the path shown by Abu Bakr Baghdadi and to teach a lesson to the attackers who commit atrocities against Muslim Community as well as to teach a lesson to Jews, Christians and members of BJP-RSS," said the statement.
Earlier, in Aug 2023, the ATS arrested three persons over their alleged connection to Al Qaeda. They were prima facie operating for a Bangladeshi handler to radicalize and recruit people for the banned terrorist organisation.
The Arrest of Maulvi Abubakr Earlier this Month
