Objective: Achieving Zero Infiltration
During the meeting, the Home Minister stated that the terror ecosystem in the Union Territory has been significantly weakened due to the sustained and coordinated efforts of the Narendra Modi government. "The government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to completely wipe out terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir. Due to the sustained and coordinated efforts of the Modi government, the terrorism ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir has been significantly weakened,"
He instructed all security agencies to intensify counter-terrorism measures, emphasizing the goal of 'zero infiltration.' He urged them to adopt a more stringent and uncompromising approach to tackling infiltration and terrorist activities. "Our goal should be to uproot the existence of terrorists," he asserted.
The Home Minister also highlighted the role of the narcotics network in supporting infiltrators and terrorists. He stressed the urgency of taking decisive action against terror financing linked to drug trafficking with speed and rigor.
Additionally, he directed agencies to expedite appointments in the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) to ensure the timely implementation of new criminal laws.
Reiterating the Modi government's 'zero tolerance' policy on terrorism, he emphasized the need for security forces to remain vigilant and work in unison to achieve a terrorism-free Jammu and Kashmir. The Home Minister also acknowledged the efforts of security agencies, commending them for the significant improvements in the region's security landscape.
Shah Conducts Consecutive Meetings
The Home Minister conducted a comprehensive review of the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir over two consecutive meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday. The discussions involved senior officials from the Army, police, paramilitary forces, and other agencies. This marks the first instance of the Home Minister holding such in-depth deliberations on the region’s security across two consecutive days.
The meetings were attended by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka, DGP Nalin Prabhat, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, and other senior military, police, and civil officials.
These discussions were convened in response to a terror attack in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district, which resulted in the death of ex-serviceman Manzoor Ahmad Wagay and left his wife and niece injured.
